Mahakaruna Buddhist Society Singapore distributed stationery, and clothing to 450 students

Kathmandu, 23 November– The Buddhist Delegations from Singapore, led by Dr. Ven. Gunarata Maha Thero of the Mahakaruna Buddhist Society Singapore and the Triple Gem Educational Foundation, organized a heartfelt program aimed at invoking peace and harmony in the world. The event, which marked the 8th birthday celebration of Mahasara David C.S. Cheong, featured special blessings and chanting ceremonies by a group of monks to wish him long life and good health.

 

The celebration also included a generous distribution of lunch, stationery, and clothing to 450 students. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ven. Gunarata Maha Thero emphasized the importance of metta (loving-kindness) and moral education in fostering peace. He praised Triratna School Nepal for its dedication to ethical education, stating, “Only through metta and loving-kindness can we achieve and sustain peace in the world. A life of discipline and ethics leads to wholesomeness.”

Dr. Ven. Raju Lama Kondan, the founder and principal of Triratna School, expressed deep gratitude to Ven. Dr. Gunarata Maha Thero, Mahasara David Cheong, and the delegation for their selfless contributions. He highlighted their ongoing support for Nepal, including aid provided during the earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mahasara David Cheong, known for his compassion, offered dana (charitable gifts) and stationery supplies to students and various monasteries and schools across Nepal. The school’s vice principal, Mr. Dilu Lama, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to the delegation for their noble service and visit.

To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Ven. Raju Lama Kondan presented a token of appreciation to the visiting delegation, recognizing their unwavering support and love for Nepal.
